“Do you know LaBron James?!” the boys asked us in a chorus of questions, balancing their swagger and wonder. Though we did not, in fact, know the basketball star, they seemed excited by the music, merriments, and message of Christ that was shared throughout VBS.

Our experience in the Philippines in late May/early June 2025 showed evidence of God’s powerful work there. Construction was postponed due to the start of the rainy season, so we primarily made and deepened relationships with the church there, and we encouraged kids and workers at their Vacation Bible School. Bouncing with our host church, Independent Baptist Church of Masinloc (IBCM), from one barangay (nearby village) to another, we reached just shy of 1,000 children! Meeting people in person transformed my understanding—from seeing them as a ministry we support with money to people whose lives we are called to invest our hearts in.  

It has been such a joy to continue connecting with our brothers and sisters in Christ since returning home– a blessing of social media!

Our next team heads over March 11-21, 2026, and we covet your prayers! While we’ll be avoiding the rain by going at this time, the students will still be in school. Possible work may include school visits, construction, visiting homes in the community, or whatever the Lord and Pastor Melo may have for us. A specific prayer request is that the team would be flexible and willing to do whatever we’re called to do with happy and humble hearts.
