Worship Leader Position Description

West End Baptist Church

Position Title: Worship Leader

Position Type: Part-time, permanent position

Reports To: Elder Team

Position Purpose:

West End Baptist Church is seeking an Worship Leader to help plan, prepare, and lead congregational worship music during a transitional season in the life of our church. This person will work in coordination with the pastor and ministry leaders to lead worship that is biblically faithful, theologically
sound, God-centered, and focused on congregational singing.

The Worship Leader will serve the church by helping God’s people sing the truths of Scripture together with reverence, joy, unity, and faith.

WEBC Philosophy of Congregational Worship Music

Together, we exist to glorify God by making mature disciples of all nations, starting in the West End. Our “First Value,” the conviction that shapes and drives our decision-making, is Authentic Worship. Therefore, the music of our church should serve the Word of God and the worship of God’s people.

Because Scripture is our final authority for faith and practice, we seek to choose songs that are faithful to the Bible, rich in sound doctrine, centered on the character of God and the redemptive work of Christ, and useful for the spiritual maturity of the congregation.

In corporate worship, singing is not a performance for an audience, but the gathered church offering praise to God and speaking biblical truth to one another. Therefore, our music should encourage the full participation of the congregation, so that the voices of God’s people—not the platform—remain central in our corporate praise.

Key Scripture Passages: John 4:23–24; Colossians 3:16; Ephesians 5:18–20; Psalm 96:1–4; Psalm 115:1; 1 Corinthians 14:26; Hebrews 12:28–29.
