Dear Friend, 

WEBC exists to Glorify God by making mature disciples of all nations, starting here in the West End. Years ago, God opened the door for us to partner with a missionary in the Philippines. Pastor Melo and his wife Ruth have been planting churches in Masinloc, Philippines for 23 years. God is doing a great work through them, and we have the opportunity to send a team to work with them next year. This is a ministry opportunity that our whole congregation is embracing in order to Glorify God around the world.  

Begin now to pray for Pastor Melo and the work of God through him and his church. Every believer is called to be a part of God’s redemptive work in the world. Ask God to clarify your role in this partnership. Pray that God will put together the team He wants to go and serve, and that He will be preparing them now. 

Who can go?    The reason we go is to tell people about Jesus and share the gospel. Every team member must be a Christian and a member of a local church. You will be asked to share your testimony as part of the application process and have the recommendation of a pastor or leader in your church. Individuals and families are invited to go. 

What will we do?  The short answer is – Whatever Pastor Melo needs to be done. This trip may involve some construction, visitation in the community, leadership training, outreaches to local schools, and more. We are going to do whatever is needed to strengthen the work God has called Pastor Melo to do. Please keep in mind that the purpose of the trip is to work. We will try to work in some other activities as the schedule allows. 

What will it cost?  Time. Before leaving we will have a series of meetings to prepare for the trip. We will prepare you for International Travel, gathering a local support team, some basics of Filipino culture, how to share your testimony in three minutes (and a 30-second version), and as the time draws nearer, specific preparation for the tasks we can expect to do. Team members are required to participate in these meetings. The trip involves 3 days of travel and 7 days on the field. Following the trip we will have a celebration service to report and celebrate what God has done.  Money. We project the cost of the trip to be $2500.00 per person. Every team member should be prepared to pay at least 10% of the cost of the trip out of pocket. We will also equip you to invite others to participate financially in your trip. WEBC will also include this trip in our 2026 ministry budget to help with trip expenses.  

What is next?  Complete the attached application and make your $100.00 deposit. Applications need to be received by October 26, 2025 (4 ½ months before the trip). Because of the nature of international travel and our desire to be wise in our preparation, we are following the protocol used by the International Mission Board for their mission trips. Once your application and deposit are received, you will be contacted with instructions on setting up a “Mission Philippines 2026” account to receive donations. 

What if I can’t go?  You are still a part of Mission: Philippines. First, commit to pray, pray, pray. Our only desire is that God is glorified through our obedience, and that He works through us to see many come to know Him.   As you pray, ask Him to provide for the team's physical and financial needs. We have learned repeatedly that where God guides, God provides. All of the earth belongs to Him, and His resources are unlimited. He provides both through the obedience of His children (that’s us), and often in ways we don’t expect.  

John 17:18-21  “As you sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. And for their sake I consecrate myself, that they also may be sanctified in truth. I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me.”
